Shuttle and Bus Services

Taking public transportation instead of driving a personal vehicle is an excellent way to reduce air pollution and also to save money. Luckily, Lexington County has a bus route that covers much of the Central Midlands region, so commuting to and from work, hospitals, museums, shopping areas, et cetera should be an easy task.

CMRTA

The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA) provides public transit to and from various locations and special attractions in the Midlands area. Columbia, West Columbia, Cayce as well as numerous other towns and communities lie along the CMRTA route. 

Standard Fare: $1.50

Attractions along the CMRTA Route include:

  • Riverbanks Zoo
  • Three Rivers Greenway
  • Amtrak
  • Columbia Museum of Art
  • Columbia Metropolitan Airport

Additional Highlights:

Bike racks are located on all buses in order to encourage the use of alternative transportation.

CMRTA provides quick access to numerous major schools and colleges around the Midland area, making it easy for students to commute. Colleges along the bus route include:

  • University of South Carolina
  • Columbia College
  • Benedict College
  • Allen University
